Me & Running ~ A love {hate} story

I have had several people ask me about running, and how I got started, etc...
I will do my best to explain.

I have always been a hardcore Anti-Runner.
I have never even seen the point in running...
Is there anyone chasing me?
If so, do they have some sort of weapon?
What are the odds I can even out-run them anyway?
What if I am the dumb girl from every horror movie that just falls down when she tries to run?

Um, yeah...those have always been my basic thoughts on running, in general.
Well, along comes Ms. Leah  and she would go on and on about running and how much she loved it...
(I thought she may be a little crazy, but I wasn't going to tell her. Besides, she thinks I eat weird food!)
Here is Leah in some diva glasses before the Color Run {Cute!)

Long before the Fabulous Leah came into my life, my own amazing Grandma ran road races until she was well into her 70's. She began running when she was 52! Sadly, a young driver backed into her when she was riding her bike and she cracked some vertebrae...It was the only thing that stopped her from running again. Out of curiosity, I did a random search online and found her times from the 1984 Bobby Crim 10 mile: (1:25:38) that is an 8:33/mile pace. She was 60 years old and that was her 21st race for the year. This amazing lady ran 30 miles a week. On a side note: she was a smoker for 30+ years, quit cold turkey and never looked back!
Here she is:
Her note on the back of the pic says:
Dec. 1984
Winter Race Series 2nd Race
Finished 2nd in the 30 & Up (she was 61!)

So, as much as I would like to give credit (blame) to my running friends...
A lot of why I started this adventure comes from my fellow Scorpio, my Grandma.

Did I mention that she also skied?
So, I am a runner now...
And very proud of it!

Everyone has their running story and there's mine!

Are you a runner? Or do you think you want to start running?
Who is your inspiration?

I'd love to hear from you!
Make it a great day!

I'm a runner of 11 years now. I trained for my first marathon when I was 45 years old. I run because I really enjoy it. Running reduces stress and clear's my mind. When I'm feeling down or depressed I simply go for a run. And after that I feel so much better. I wish more people ran.
